About the JobUnder the guidance of the CFO, manage the daily accounting operations of a self-clearing proprietary trading firm. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Payroll Administration: Process payroll using ADP Workforce Now, including managing Time & Attendance, onboarding new employees, conducting payroll audits, handling payroll tax reporting and reconciliations, and more.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting reports and financial statements, including FOCUS filings.
- Accounting Operations: Handle monthly reconciliations, bookkeeping, wire requests, and oversee travel and entertainment expense accounting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Actively ensure the firm adheres to net capital requirements and regulatory standards.
- Policy Development: Establish and maintain accounting policies, processes, and systems to optimize company controls.
- Month-End Close: Supervise the monthly close process, maintain the general ledger, and report financial results.
- Management Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly financial health reports, including revenue/expense analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Forecasting and Projections: Create financial projections, rolling revenue calculations, and pro forma statements.
- Treasury Management: Oversee treasury functions for the firm and its affiliates.
- Audit and Policy Improvement: Coordinate audits, develop efficient accounting policies, and continuously improve processes to support business operations and enhance internal controls.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with senior management to identify and address financial issues, recommending procedural changes as needed.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage AP/AR accounting and oversee expense allocations.
- Banking Administration: Assist in managing banking relationships and ensuring smooth administration.
- Tax and Audit Support: Gather data for tax filings and provide support during annual audits.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree required; CPA preferred.
- Series 27 certification is a plus; must be willing to obtain if not already certified.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.
- Prior accounting experience in a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or financial services environment is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (or equivalent accounting software) and advanced Excel skills required.
- Payroll experience, particularly with ADP Workforce Now, is preferred.
Qualifications - At least 6+ years of accounting experience.
- Background in broker-dealer accounting or as a FINOP professional is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with financial reporting systems, procedures, and internal controls.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think critically.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and work in a team-oriented setting.
